Dude, you literally said a meter is a few inches shorter than a yard. That is completely incorrect in any context, wether measuring accurately or illustrating orders of distance.
I mean you could have said “oops my bad i meant a meter is a bit longer than a yard” and i could have said “my dude, you are mistaken about the size of a meter” but its t’internet i guess.
Btw many people have jobs that depend on them knowing how long a furlong is… Ask any racing horse trainer or jockey.

It is, in fact, the other way around. A meter is 3’ 3"(ish) - close enough to 3" bigger that it makes no difference to John Doe. It does make a difference when being accurate for reasons of course.
If you want to comfirm it, without resorting to fundamental definitions (uk imperial), 1000m is 5 furlongs to within a couple of inches. There are 220 yards in a furlong so 1100 yards in 5 furlongs, therefore yards are shorter than meters.
Why use furlongs? Because a handy short conversion is 1km= 5/8 of a mile and a furlong is exactly 1/8 of a mile.
But its not ‘real’ cash, its what the owner of it could/can raise against the collateral in today’s market.
So you can’t just go and grab it.
In fact, if you started grabbing the mythical wealth it would be worth less… It may even become worth nothing (or at least less than it cost to seize)… “Oh noes, the feds are taking Elon’s stock… Quick sell it all 11!!1” price crashes, Fed end up owning paper not cash.

As an almost completely illiterate (in German) English person I prefer the pay at a counter thing because the usually pleasant person behind the counter can just accept the payment. This is good because getting a phone out to translate the instructions often results in an irate German shouting at you.

Not necessarily true. If they were vulnerable adults for whom the vaccination had little/no effect or who were immunosuppressed, for whatever reason, herd immunity amongst the younger population would have protected them. Now it doesn’t, thanks to the anti-vaxxer in chief.

The condition (in my case) doesn’t prevent me from seeing a face in tea leaves (or whatever) but it does prevent me from recognising a face. Even faces that I am very familiar with can be problematic.

Loratadine doesn’t work much and traditional antihistamine is a no no because of sleepy.
The latest all singing anti-histamine that is expensive and just been removed from “prescription only” status here in the UK doesn’t work as well for me as cetirizine.

On holidays in the south of France, found 100% robusta in the supermarket. What a revelation.
It seems to be less popular down here than it might be (often on special offer in the supermarkets and a bit cheaper than arabica) but I am happy to drink it (we have a few bricks stashed away for taking home as I don’t recall seeing it readily available in the UK)
It’s a very forgiving brew, great aroma and flavour, just don’t expect arabica!

The DLR is fully automated, though there is a fold away drivers position for use when necessary. iirc It never runs at street grade and sometimes does have software issues which makes things interesting.
I am pretty sure the victoria line has drivers for show. It was one of the very first lines to be automated and, at the time, it was thought that passengers would panic if there were no driver, so they kept with tradition.
