During the SCO Summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin commended PM Narendra Modi for his leadership and organization of the virtual event. During his opening remarks, Putin hailed India's presidency at the summit and expressed Russia's support for the draft of the "New Delhi Declaration." India has made proposals on combating terrorism and de-radicalization as well as climate change, promotion of millets, and digital transformation. The summit was also attended by China's Xi Jinping and Pakistan's Shehbaz Sharif.

      India has a wayy better history with Russia than with the West. Russia has supported India both financially and militarily when the country needed it the most, at times when the West was either ignorant or openly hostile to India’s efforts (the US even sent a warship to the Bay of Bengal to block the Indian forces trying to prevent genocide in Bangladesh’s civil strife).

      This kind of debt is not easily ignored, Modi will be chewed out by his own if he doesn’t remain friendly with Russia.
