Developers, it’s time for you to choose a side: will you help rid the web of privacy-invading tracking or be complicit in it?

The thing is Google has a big search monopoly and they do like to have Search Console and Analytics plugged in for a website they are indexing.

Is there a viable alternative to AdSense for very small websites with like 1k views per month?

Not sure if monetization by ads will work no matter the source (aside from very aggressive and very clickbaity ads?). If you want some reliable monetization it would have to be some sort of sponsored cooperation, merchandise, or services.

Why do you need ads? I have a client running their entire business on one of my websites — it gets a ton of traffic from them because records need to be constantly updated with tons of information (shipping industry).

The entire thing costs like $100 per month and that’s only because I give it extra resources for it to be lightning fast (it automatically scales up should things get real wild).

Hell, I have dozens of websites running for close to $0; granted they don’t get much traffic.

Why run a website if you can’t afford to keep it running without selling off your users’ data?
