Aren’t there a bunch of other big events planned in the US? IIRC the football world cup is planned to happen there. I cannot imagine that going well if the !buyeuropean@feddit.uk and !boycottus@lemmy.ca movements continue.
Football fans tend to not care about jack shit. You could see the world literally burning and they’ll say “b-but the game…”
Russia only had minor boycotts when they hosted. Qatar used slave labor and again had only minor boycotts. I don’t think the boycotts of the World Cup will be huge, however, every little helps.
Is it wrong that I’d be much happier if everyone did boycott the World Cup? I live in the city hosting it and I don’t want to deal with the traffic. Also, fuck Trump.
This is different though. People aren’t boycotting the world cup but the entire country. I invite you to look at the communities I posted. They have nothing to do with the world cup.
