Not sure I understand the boycott but still watch crowd. Sure, not watching makes viewership go down a tick, but the Superbowl is so cultural, every hallway “did you see the game” helps push those viewership numbers right back up

It’s not a boycott if you’re still interacting with the product. Call it what it is, a pirated sports stream.

they’re making efforts to not financially enrich those involved. A step in the right direction, at least

And I’m not saying that’s wrong, I’ve been watching sports streams for over 10 years now. But let’s not act like this is some grand social gesture, I just don’t want to pay for cable.

How do you do this without still having to see the commercials? Those are a huge part of the enriching unfortunately…

Lots of these streams don’t show the commercials and instead just have blank airspace when the commercials are airing. But I don’t know if that applies to the superbowl streams though since some people like to watch those commercials.

My hatred of commercials is… Strong. Kudos to black screens of comforting non-crap.

Yep lot of sports streams I’ve seen straight up don’t have commercials and goes to dead air during breaks, since they aren’t streaming regular broadcast channels.

Really nice ones switch to stadium cameras during breaks so showing what’s going on with the crowd and arena.

It’s more that they’re restreaming a stream, and the main stream doesn’t have commercials. They’re injected at commercial breaks, but aren’t a part of the main stream (because people in different regions get different commercials).

You could also rip the stream, manually remove the commercials, and post it on torrent sites

I’ve always hated that “rugby is a hooligan’s game played by gentlemen” claptrap because too many who play are insufferable jackasses with an unwarranted superiority complex.

Be confident enough in your sport you don’t need to belittle others. There’s room in the world for more than one sport.

        Allez les Bleus

        Go Chiefs

I just enjoy pissing off football fans. You want to talk superiority complex just look at American football fans.

AF is considered to be the world’s most dangerous sport if you look at number of injuries weighted by severity. If you ask me, that’s precisely why it’s a “terrible sport”. Insinuating it’s lacking in some degree of toxic masculinity simply sounds ignorant.

Sorry for the joke, this is my actual belief. The more “padded” someone is the more careless they will be because they think they are safe.

I certainly know rugby has its dangers, but when you play by the rules it is leaps and bounds safer than AF

all sportsball is terrible but it’s a proven fact that safety equipment increases risk taking behaviour.

Rugby safety equiptment - Scrum cap (only 2nd row wear these), mouth guard, training how to tackle/be tackled.

How much safer can ya get??

            Websearch “rugby + CTE”.

Rugby is a full contact sport and has the exact same concerns that American football, fighting, and hockey have. There is no magic shield that protects rugby players from the consequences of repeat impacts to the head.

Researchers are looking into high volume, low impact hits (rugby and American football) contributing to CTE just as much as lower volume, high impact hits (American football). Researchers are even looking at whether impact is necessary, even rapid changes in acceleration (hit elsewhere in the body causing ones brain to slosh around in the skull) piles up damage over the course of a sports career.

Plenty of good hearted sledging to be thrown about various sports. Buying the propaganda that rugby isn’t a dangerous sport ain’t it.
