Dengue fever is caused by any one of four types of dengue viruses. You can’t get dengue fever from being around an infected person. Instead, dengue fever is spread through mosquito bites.

And do you know how mosquitoes breed?

This is common knowledge in tropical territories. “Don’t let water accumulate, because the skeeters will lay eggs, and the best way to keep the dengue fever out is to keep the vectors from breeding.” (mosquitoes don’t live very long or travel very far after ecloding, so, stop the mosquitoes from going far, and you stop the illness from going far)

If you’re NOT from a tropical territory – Fear not – Climate change will be bringing Dengue and Yellow Fever to your backyard in the near future

Jokes on you, climate change has already led to where I am (Alberta, Canada) getting dramatically more insects.
