        This is a weird take in this context. It’s a platform for hosting open source software. There is no privacy to speak of, the whole point is that it’s out in the open

        Now using it for enterprise or a private repo is a different discussion, but it’s not clear that that’s what’s we’re focused on here

          I like having as many private repos as I’d like, its’s a small plus that microsoft can’t scrape my code for their silly AI products

      It isn’t. They shut down the unwanted repositories due to DMCA violation. This is a recently reported case. There were many others before.

      After Microsoft acquired the GitHub, it’s better to publish copies of repositories there, not the main ones.
