There is a cynicism that hangs over the topic of American infrastructure – whether it’s high-speed rail or off-shore wind – it feels like this country can’t build big things anymore. No one project embodies that cynicism quite like what Bostonians call ‘The Big Dig.’ A nine episode podcast series, produced by GBH News and hosted by Ian Coss, will be released weekly, beginning September 27th.

The series covers The Big Dig in Chicago and related stories from around it. Super interesting to hear how residents fought back against plans to destroy their community with freeways and some of the alternative plans which were put forward. Worth a listen if you’re interested in infrastructure, but it has historical and political elements too.
