minus-square@breathless_RACEHORSE@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglish20•9 months agoI’ve been quite happy with antennapod. Discovery is kind of a pain in the ass, but it’s open source, and management and playback have been solid.
minus-squareFiddlersViridian linkfedilinkEnglish4•9 months agoI second all of this. I started using AntennaPod a couple months ago and like it. It handles “chapters” in podcasts better, too. Searching is fiddly though.
minus-squarenewIdentitylinkfedilinkEnglish1•9 months agoPocketCast is also OpenSource. Today I switched over and it’s also pretty good. I honestly can’t really decide which one I find better. Try them out for yourself.
minus-square@applejacks@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglish1•9 months agoBiggest issue with pocket casts is it cannot deal with authenticated feeds.
minus-squarenewIdentitylinkfedilinkEnglish1•9 months agoI for example subscribed to Darknet Diaries on Patreon and the bonus episodes do work. I don’t listen to more premium podcasts. I just hate that you can’t manually update the URL so far. Also the “time listed” stats on AntennaPod are way superior, but PocketCats syncs between devices and has a web/desktop client.
