The enabler is not keeping them in that condition. The 600-pounder is keeping themselves in that condition through the choices that they make every day. Should that enabler leave… another will take their place. Because many people feel gratification from caring for others, and feeding those we love is a fundamental part of being human, it’s as natural as feeding ourselves.
You can find many 400 pounders and up on social media, still caring for themselves without an enabler. Perhaps they’ll get to 600 pounds some day… but to blame an enabler, the person who cares for them, is madness. The blame lies with the person consuming 10,000 calories a day, you can’t get to 600 pounds by making a few bad choices. It’s YEARS of daily bad choices, and they made those decisions. Only they are keeping themselves in that condition.
A few worker-bees can strike but as long as there’s someone else willing to work for a shit wage then we drive ourselves down further.
A handful of consumers can boycott a platform or product on idealistic values but there’s still going to be millions of other consumers blissfully ignorant of those values.

The analogy still stands.

We’re all crabs in a giant bucket.
