With article preview enabled, if you want to preview an article thumbnail from the feed, you have to tap into the post and then use the preview gesture there. Perhaps the article preview function can be activated with the title instead? This would also make the preview gesture more consistent across post types with a thumbnail.
Personally, every now and then I have to tap into a post and I’m used doing it from the feed. Of course, if changed, people used to the current flow may be annoyed and prefer the thumbnail. I’m guessing people that prefer card view would prefer the image activation as well.

For article posts that have a thumbnail, sometimes I just want to view the thumbnail. With the article preview option enabled, I would have to tap into the post and then tap and hold on the thumbnail there. I can’t just use the regular tap and hold to preview from the feed because of the article preview feature, which I like enabled.
If the trigger for the feature was changed to tap and hold on the post title instead of the thumbnail, I can use the preview gesture to view an article or thumbnail from the feed and tap and hold on the title to open reader preview of the article.
Just an idea, and if nothing changes, I can just go into the post to preview article thumbnails.
