Chambers, an heir to the Cox family fortune who has donated over $1 million to Palestinian humanitarian efforts, currently faces extradition to Washington on charges of international money laundering and providing material support to foreign terrorist organizations. The indictment, reviewed by The Grayzone, reportedly lacks evidence linking Chambers to terrorist groups, instead citing transfers of funds to banks in Tunisia where he relocated in 2023. Chambers’ representatives assert that these funds were utilized for legitimate investments, including the sponsorship of the Club Africain football team and various social justice causes. His partner, Stella Schnabel, condemned the arrest as “political persecution” aimed at punishing Chambers for his vocal opposition to the genocide in Gaza.
