Sure, whatever.
That’s a lovely cake honey, but I’m not sure how the ‘Fuck All Corpo Swine’ theme is going to be received by my boss. Gotta admire how you used the neck-tie as a noose though. Very creative.

Yeah, because accounting is where you’d really like an LLM to hallucinate results. /s

“What do you mean ‘he solved all of it’? What are we going to do with all these doctorates?!”

In this case I was being tongue-in-cheek, albeit in a darkly cynical kind of way. After all, if he had made a breakthrough worth killing him over, that alone wouldn’t be enough. One would have to arrange any number of inconvenient fires / break-ins to get rid of the research and data.
Mind you, if you want to sleep soundly at night, you probably shouldn’t look into the stories about John Bedini’s old mentor John Cejka. That shit’s wild.

The theoretical physicist and fusion scientist was known for his award-winning research in magnetised plasma dynamics.
Dons tin-foil hat
…Okay, so what’s the over/under on him having had a recent breakthrough and this being a fossil fuel industry-sponsored hit?

I doubt that’ll make much difference at this point. It’s the academic distinction between “shooting the tourism industry in the head” and “shooting the tourism industry in the head, twice”. It’s dead either way.

There’s plenty of reasons a person might want to filter out NSFW content - the most obvious being that they’re at work or browsing in some other context where having NSFW content displayed might be inappropriate - in public visiting a cafe or a library for instance. Some people might simply not be using Lemmy for that reason and so desire to have it filtered out so it doesn’t get in the way of the content they are interested in.
It wouldn’t be outright appropriate for many projects to be hosted on sourceforge these days, but this might just be the exception. Either that or a bare .zip archive found on a backup of a geocities page.

Yeah, that’s great Mozilla. Have fun with that. You just make sure that shit can be compiled out so I can use a forked project that’s had all the stupid sanitized out of it.
Well, I mean, the submarines were a rather notorious nuisance.

Very nice. What’s the garnish? Parsley?

That kind of brilliant decision is why they’re paid so well. /s

“Also, everyone who opposes that are clearly terrorists.”

Thank you for compelling me to act in my own best long-term interest.

We need to make a distinction between real AI (GAI) and what is commonly termed “AI”, e.g. machine learning and LLMs. Obviously I’m talking about what we actually have, not making some sort of imaginary bioconservative bigoted statement against digital persons that don’t exist.

Fucking AI lunacy.
It’s profoundly disturbing that wasn’t what they originally had intended to do by default. I don’t see how anybody can trust people who have to be forced to do the right thing to keep doing the right thing. I’d expect them to just try to sneak it back in later when the focus has shifted. Clearly they see no fundamental moral or ethical issue with it - or they simply don’t care.
