My company is like this. They literally have a feature in the roadmap called AI, and say we have to do something with it because our competitors do.

Everything is so abstracted nowadays that even the specialists are disconnected from understanding the underlying systems

I could understand Hilary not getting elected, but Harris? She’s as blank slate as any presidential candidate could get ( and maybe that was the problem). But the demographics which shifted the most politically, was the Hispanic and black male (whom tend to be less educated) voters towards the right. That could either be populism or misogyny, and considering they were leaning left when elected Biden the previous term, I’m leaning towards the latter reason.

Sucks to think about, especially since relative to the past we are in the most prosperous times, but people used to be happier in generations prior because they had cheap third places to go to, had a purpose and community.

And now our lives are surrounded by substitute and vicarious experiences that will never afford us true fulfillment. And like a drug, it saps us of the motivation to actually change any of it.

So what we need is a new disruptive media type that puts is on the head-end of the cycle again?

The wiki article on his death says that the San Antonio PD is saying that there was no evidence of hate crime up to that point, but if this was ongoing for literal years over 300+ incidents, i find that hard to believe. They need an outside-led investigation into that county PD.

Diminishing returns on effort. Maybe you are the one person who’s offended enough to not patronize the media, but if the creator can get popular with less effort, why not?

There is no openAI without content creators. It’s a derivative tool, so if some new tool/system comes out it’s not gonna know jack shit without the training data.

Now if your beef is with the content platforms, I completely understand that, but saying content creators should be removed, seems a bit myopic

They only care about birth rate so that labor is devalued.

Historians argue that one of the contributing factor to the end of feudalism was the black death, because the laborers left had more bargaining power then before over the nobles/clergy to make demands like tenancy, humanistic values etc.

But the moment where AI is able to replace whole industries is when these sob stories will vanish, and in good conscience, who can have a kid when those are their prospects?

This isn’t like the industrial revolution where people were just upskilled and shifted into other domains, there’s only so many hospitality and service oriented jobs which can support the labor force writ large.

AI doesn’t scare me, it’s all these thirsty investors who gleefully talk about using it to get rid of workforce before it’s really matured in their domain. Like damn dudes, I can’t believe you guys have that much contempt for employees…
