Most people I know have been enthusiastic about cachyos after switching to it.

Currently also running on bazzite, so I can’t comment on experience. Bazzite does have it’s own quircks due to the immutability. The distroboxes to run software ( both graphical as CLI ) are pretty great once you get used to them. Its nice to be able to install a .deb file in a distrobox if I have no other alternatives available.

Cachy is arch based and having access to the AUR is probably a big +.

Its hard to advise on “I don’t like some bazzite things outside of gaming” though. Anything specific you miss/dislike on bazzite? Speed? Immutability?

I’ve heard it from them, but maybe there’s not that much being done in our area/country to find a solution for long covid ( or maybe there is and we just don’t know about it/have any breakthroughs ).

Indeed… I know somebody who else has it and is just energy starved like crazy. If she goes anywhere she just crashes in the evening and needs 3 days to recover. Doing anything is basically wondering whether its worth it to crash for 2 days afterwards…

And the research for it has dropped. So its basically an “I hope it passes this month” by the doctors as there’s no actual treatment (apparently).

Looks like there’s an issue resolved w.r.t. AND and flickering screens. I thought my screen was just failing. Hopefully this fixes it ( even though its not always an issue for me ).

Some issues with flickering or cutting-out displays under VRR/HDMI2.1 on AMD have been resolved!

It just feels like a very basic feature missing. There’s an app on fdroid that can do it apparently ( 2way sync), but I am hesitant to log into any app with my credentials that isn’t tied to the provider.

If you’re a paying proton customer you can also use simplelogin.io for free to use email aliases. It generates a unique email address and forwards it to your inbox. You can reply and everything and it’ll show up as coming from the alias.

I’ve had less issues with it than plus addressing ( where I’ve had sites deny the email because of the +… In the email ).

While you can change it afterwards, it might be worthwhile to check a setting in immich on how it organizes the photos on disk you upload.

I changed it to year/month/photo-id because I find it convenient, but it does not organized them like that for backups.

You can change it at a later date and run a job to “fix it”, but it might be worthwhile to set it up correctly from the start ( if this matters to you ). So no harm done if you change your mind later.

While I wholeheartedly agree with your statement about the app/site/sports betting, I don’t wholly agree with the travelling comparison.

Travelling and visiting places tend to open your horizons and enrich you culturally. It’s not easily generalized. Travelling to Disneyland probably won’t really broaden your horizons or teach you something culturally and neither will idly sitting on a cruise ship.

You are correct that the article is more about sports betting rather than casinos like in vegas. I merely meant that given what I experienced there, I’m not surprised the gambling in apps and sports is getting out of control. That’s on me though :)

Maybe I am against things like the Vegas vacations because I have such a large distaste for gambling in general. ( Loot box ‘surprise’ mechanics also do not help ).

Fair enough. Though I still feel that a company either provides the device and can enforce policies, or they don’t and they can’t.
