It’s basically the same. And it makes sense, it seems that’s what people want. But also, can Nintendo ever go back to the old ways? If ever they make something that isn’t a Switch, they’d have to develop two pieces of hardware, since they’re likely going to want both a home console and a handheld device. I think things might be like this forever.

No matter how you feel about it, he was a fool to make a public post about it.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Which in your opinion is better, Whataburger or Wendy's?
32·1 year agoSince you’re asking everyone, Wendy’s wins easily, since Wataburger literally doesn’t exist for most people while Wendy’s does.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Steam Deck wins PCMag's reader's choice for best handheld gaming system
231·1 year agoThat’s unimpressive, considering it is pretty much the best in that category for now.
I also like how they specified the Steam Deck as purely portable when in reality it is just as much of a hybrid as the Nintendo Switch, yet the Switch is in a category invented just for it so that they can give Snoy the console top spot.

Memes@lemmy.ml•How long before he starts talking about martial law now?
42·1 year agoDidn’t I hear about him getting a list of military folks who he wants to replace with those loyal to him.
That could be interpreted to mean that he started talking about it first.

That’d be kind of sad.

The Metroid Prime trailer didn’t really have much to it, but I guess that’s normal for the series now. Haha.

262·1 year agoThat’s super lame, considering the award is titled “Game of the Year” and a DLC clearly isn’t a game.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Self-declaration of identity (Alternative to government ID)
30·1 year agoThis is like those silly fake IDs that the sovereign citizen goofballs use, and as such it would fail at being an ID in the same ways.
While not helpful for privacy, the truth is that the only reason a state ID has any value is because it comes from a ‘trusted’ source who verifies the information on it. An ID that isn’t issued by a trusted source has no value, as it would be no different from me just asking the person holding it who they are, they can say whatever they like, just as their printed card could say whatever it likes.

Would You Rather@lemmy.dbzer0.com•WYR: Have an internet without ads or an internet without AI.
151·1 year agoInternet without AI easily, because lets be real. If the AI were on the ad free internet, they’d just be the vector for the ads to be distributed. You’d think you’re talking to a person, and you’ll find you’re really talking to a chatbot who is going to try and influence you to buy its operator’s products.
There’s a country in Europe called Ireland.
I don’t know much about the politics and policies there, but what I do know is that if I drop the street view guy there, most places are green and pretty. That puts it pretty high up on my list.

politics @lemmy.world•How many of you are thinking of leaving America after the election results?
131·1 year agoThe way I see it, why leave?
Am I just going to let the place fall to ruin because I didn’t get my way this time? There are people here who want to make things better, just like I do, and they will need my help next time. It’d be selfish for me to leave them and make things better for just myself when we’re supposed to be trying to make things better for everyone.
If things get truly bad, I have to hope that more people will want to make things better. That doesn’t work if everyone just runs away at the first sign of things going wrong. If you’re of a group where you might be persecuted, and you find yourself in danger, then go, run, but I’m reasonably safe for now, so I will stay and hope for a better tomorrow.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do Americans win their country back?
13·1 year agoYour fear of a 3rd term makes it all the more important to vote in your future elections. As the two term limit is imposed through a constitutional amendment, they’d need to create another constitutional amendment to reverse it. They need 2/3rds of both the house and the senate to agree to even get the ball rolling, as such, it is vital that you do what you can to prevent them from acquiring those numbers to avoid that situation.
If it did happen, I wonder if the democrats would run Obama again.
