It’s not a mono-rail, it’s an attempt at a better night-train car design. Will it have any success in a market where we already have nightjet, etc.? No idea. But this doesn’t seem all that pie in the sky.

VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto Linux@programming.dev•Btop++: Linux System Monitoring Tool That is Definitely Better than Top4·1 day agoI’ve been using this for a while. It’s neat. Just needed to turn of all the theming, it looked silly.
Following a not wholly dissimilar idea, there is also German training ship Gorch Fock.
VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How many of you use Lemmy and ONLY use Lemmy vs Reddit?4·2 days agoI’ve been off reddit for years before Lemmy. I do have an Instagram account, logged into the app on an otherwise empty Android VM, which means I’m not fully hardcore. Need that because people are way cagey about giving out their phone number, but everyone wants you to write them on insta. Could just ignore that, but I like meeting people.
Nothing non-federated apart from that, though.
VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto Enshittification@lemmy.world•Google fucked a whole generation with Chromebooks, and now they're fucking the next generation with AI23·3 days agoI use the old chrome book I have for writing. It was pretty easy to throw Linux on there. Was cheap when I bought it years ago, and still has like 10 hours of battery life. Just don’t expect it to do much other than text processing and simple Web stuff.
If I remember correctly, they’re all core-boot-able, which is neat. Can’t do that with most other laptops.
Like, I see the problem, but my school actually gave out iPads, which I feel was worse. On the chrome book, you can at least access the file system and Linux.
VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto Keep Your phone for Longer@lemmy.ca•I've kept iPhones for 5 years and Nutribullets for 8 — here's how I nurture my tech and stretch its lifespan2·5 days agoI drop mine plenty. My trick is having a case. I kept my last one till the adhesive on the display failed.
VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto Games@lemmy.world•Baldur’s Gate 4 may happen eventually, but not with Larian StudiosEnglish3·5 days agoI do, but I see that it’s a preference thing. However, the whole game/story felt to me like it was a passion project. I feel like it’s a gamble at best whether or not whoever hasbro finds to do it will be able to give it the same dedication.

I feel that isn’t the solution either.
VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•Are Fossify trustworthy and recommended?1·10 days agoYeah, I’m in Germany. It used to differ country to country, but since GDPR, you need consent, need to have/give a proper reason for the recording, need to store it in encrypted form, need to provide it to the other party if requested, need to delete it upon request, need to delete it when it has fulfilled it’s purpose. Might have forgotten some requirements.
Things are probably less stringent for one private person recording another, but I’d err on the side of caution and always ask for consent. And if you want to record someone doing something illegal, probably ask a lawyer whether that’d be admissable.
VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•Are Fossify trustworthy and recommended?1·11 days agoDepends on your jurisdiction. For some US states, only one of the recorded parties has to consent. In my jurisdiction, both parties have to consent.
Can definitely be useful for longer/complicated calls if you can’t take notes in the moment. I’m not suggesting you use it to break any laws, of course.

VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto Gaming@lemmy.world•Can't relate. *Kills Arabella*English2·12 days agoOh shit, I just killed her in my current playthrough because I thought it didn’t matter anyway. Which sucks. I really love her voice, and she has a fun arc.
VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto Gaming@lemmy.world•Can't relate. *Kills Arabella*English51·12 days agoYou need a mod for this. In Vanilla, if you save the grove, she’s treated as dead. At least that what happened for me.
VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto A World of Comics @crazypeople.online•Do you agree ?1·14 days agoI mean, it’s a cartoon. It’s a bit of a crude comparison, but that’s kinda in the nature of the thing.

VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto 196@lemmy.blahaj.zone•how can i rule today? ☺️ [OC, no ai]English7·20 days agoThank you - Very realistic! And nah, I’m not suicidal, that’s fine. Just kinda hopeless for humanity’s future, which makes me a bit more indifferent than I’d like to be.
But I’ve got friends, I’ve got ttrpgs, I have my tinkering projects, I just feel any happiness found is very much hard won from a society that is very anti-human, not because it cares about opposing anyone, but because it is so very indifferent to most things that matter.
I probably should stop writing comments at night, I turn into a bit of a downer.
