Get that boy a helmet and a doctor!

Proud to say that I got Elden Ring working on Linux in VR, using Steam’s Proton implementation and the RealVR (DMCA taken down now) mod - neither of which are intended to run on Linux. Had to do a bit of research into the Windows artifacts in the Steam compatibility data folders, then do some tweaking in a couple of XML and INI files for Elden Ring’s graphics and the RealVR mod’s config.
It’s running at about 2160x2160 per eye with a Pixels Per Degree value around 14 - doesn’t look as crisp as playing it on a high-res monitor, but it’s 3-dimensional in VR so it’s fuckin’ awesome. Still working on finishing NG+ quest through the DLC, getting close to defeating Messmer. It looks amazing when he turns into a giant snake and you can just look up and follow where it’s going naturally, helps to dodge attacks.

What could go wrong with such a brilliant strategy built upon an ultimatum, when we have a basic bunch of drunk podcasters in command of the military. The levels of Dumb and Wrong are way off the charts now

There’s an episode of Black Mirror about exactly that and it was hella depressing. I think it starred Chris O’Dowd and Mya Rudolph, who are both usually really funny actors, but it was the opposite of funny.

Generally people commute to jobs within a reasonable distance, from where they live if they can’t find a nearby job that’s good enough.
For example if you lived in the area of Edinburg, Illinois (population about 1000) you would have the jobs listed here available within 35 miles: https://www.indeed.com/l-edinburg,-il-jobs.html
In a semi-rural area like that, it’s only going to take you about 30 minutes to drive 30 miles on highways. It’s not like driving through 30 miles of city. It’s common for rural folks to have a 30 minute to 1 hour daily commute to work.
Remote work is really what’s best though.

Yep, it’s great to have room to breathe and do what you want, and still have a reasonable access to basic stuff nearby like groceries, general supplies. In the old days, living outside the city meant that it was hard to get anything that’s not common, boring, or basic. You’d have to drive to a Big City to get any kind of unusual stuff like skateboards or guitars. But we have online shopping now and you can get anything you want shipped to your doorstep, so I have no need for the city.

“Jobs only exist in big cities” because no one else outside of cities is able to make a living… all areas other than cities must therefore be uninhabited

No protection for the nards!

A few years ago the IRS website wanted me to take a “video selfie” using a webcam to log in to access my tax stuff. I said Fuck That and ended the session. Finished my taxes through a 3rd party vendor instead.

Good list, what about Twin Peaks?

Tell me, is the name of this hospital Saint Crock of Shit? Is this a crock of shit that I’m holding?

Ugh that’s not right at all. There were much better shows that actually fit the description you wrote, like Twin Peaks for example.

He was really a profound philosopher in his own way. “Keep your eye on the doughnut, not the hole” he also said

Urban air problems are many, so it’s better to not live in an Urb
For your health!

No actually I can carry all the music I want in the storage of my phone. It’s nice to have unlimited access to it even when there is no cellular data or wifi available. Sometimes I go fully out of range of all Internets but I still have music.

Streaming is crap, I collect albums instead. Nobody but burglars can limit my access to my music collection.

I hope not but really IDK

Those people should all tell California to fuck off then. California can’t tell me to do shit.
You can play Dark Souls 1 - 3 in VR with that mod as well as ER, if you can find it and have a VR headset that can do SteamVR. It’s the Luke Ross RealVR mod, recently got taken down by DMCA threats. It’s a Windows-native mod, not made for Linux, but works mostly OK with Proton somehow.
The Souls games all work well in VR with the mod, when I used to play on Windows 10. Personally I found it a lot better than playing on a 2D monitor or TV, and I actually got better at Elden Ring due to having a better perspective of the distances between things in 3D (better at dodging, landing hits, etc). It wasn’t hard to get used to but I’m experienced with VR gaming and don’t have any motion sickness troubles with it.
So far I’ve tried DSIII and ER this way on Linux and they both worked. I assume that all 3 Dark Souls would. Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Demons Souls can’t be played in VR as far as I know.
