  • Have you ever actually met a European? Most people I know have at least one savings account. Also (at least in Sweden) sickpay is usually paid for by your workplace for the first two weeks, where you typically need a doctors note after one week. If you’re sick for longer than two weeks you have to contact one of our social services (Försäkringskassan), with a new doctors note, they will make an evolution if you’re sick enough to not be able to work. If they think you’re not able to work they will pay you based on what your salary was.

Of course you can abuse this system, but if you are sick often enough your workplace will probably demand a doctors note from day one. It’s not a perfect system, but I prefer knowing that the bills will be paid, even I get sick for a long period of time.

  • I have used the Fairbuds XL for about four months now, I’m mostly happy with them, though bear in my mind that I’m not even close to an audiophile.

    The good

    • They feel sturdy, even the plastic parts feel quality built.
    • For me the fit is good. I use them when I’m on my pc as well, wearing only on one ear to hear what my SO is saying.
    • I can connect them seamlessly to both my phone and my pc(with a separate Bluetooth dongle).
    • They also worked very well when I connected them via usb-c, this way they work even if the batteries are out of charge.

    The bad

    • When the battery drops to about 30%~ they lose connection periodically and I sometimes have to pair the devices again. Not a problem above this percentage.
    • The fit when I wear them over a winter hat is not as good as with a cap or no hat.
    • Sometimes the start button don’t register when I try to turn them on or off.

Overall I’m very happy with them, but I also got them on a discount since they had been used as a display item (this may also be the reason for some of the issues).

  • This is the reason I could only watch one episode of Our Planet. The amount of animal suffering shown made me feel down for the entire week.

I understand it’s important to show the impact the destruction of native environments has on animals, but I can’t do anything to change it, so seeing this just made me feel even more helpless.

  • Oh, we both enjoy out alone time as well, usually when we’re home we’ll be in separate rooms and feel content with it. It’s by talking that I know she feels bad sometimes when I’ve gone out for a beer with a friend, because it reminds her of how lonely she is. This is why I feel bad for going out, even though she has reassured me that it’s OK that I do.

What I miss is probably the time when I could go out without feeling bad for her sake.

  • Yeah, it’s what we give up for loved ones. I had a banger of a night with a friend last year before his daughter arrived, we went on a pub crawl which ended up with us joining up with a couple of 18-19 year olds celebrating a friends birthday. We all had a great time and went home around at 4ish AM.

I guess it’s just a part of moving into a new stage of life, I kind of wish my 20s lasted longer lol.

  • I will most likely end up deleting this, even though I highly doubt she would find this.

We do things together that we both like almost every weekend, be it museum visits, taking a hike in the woods, or just watching a movie. We’ve been together for 8 years, but we’re in our 30s now, she gets along with my friends, I just wish she had some of her own.

My feelings aren’t bitter honestly, I just would feel better if she went out to do things without me more often.
