KDE has a tiling built in (hit meta+t to set up and then hold shift while dragging a window) and there are a hundred way more nerdy tiling window managers.

JTskulk@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Dropbox CEO slams return-to-office mandates, compares them to outdated malls and theatersEnglish4·11 days agoWouldn’t those businesses that own their offices still prefer to sell or rent a property if the business will run without it? Artificially filling a property with employees to “make use of” the property rather than get money out of it is a good way to be left holding the bag when other companies ditch their properties to save money and crash the market anyway. To your point, the property is still the same asset whether employees are in it or not; it costs money. I guess I’m not really buying the notion that businesses are banding together to lose money for the greater good of the business real estate market. The same companies that won’t even invest in obvious long-term profitability plans? Really?
JTskulk@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Dropbox CEO slams return-to-office mandates, compares them to outdated malls and theatersEnglish5·12 days agoI still don’t understand how this talking point makes sense. So businesses are purposefully incurring costs to prop up an industry that they’re not involved in? A business will stop leasing a building and save money if they can, hell mine did.

JTskulk@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•Will kernel-level anti-cheat ever work on linux?English152·14 days agoI’m not a programmer or cheater or anything, but I think the answer is yes and no. Yes it could technically be done and even work as intended as long as the device is locked down to prevent the user from replacing the shipped kernel (which would be a bad thing for users). However, savvy people could (in theory) make custom kernels that lie to the kernel module, causing the module to report there is no cheating when there is. It’s my understanding that it’s close to the current situation with Windows and virtual machines and anticheat: you can cheat by running your game in a VM and then have that virtual hardware extract secret information or flip bits in the right spots. Most competitive games will refuse to run in a VM for this reason.

I accidentally got switched to Wayland after a recent KDE update on Arch, it is better and I’d like to switch to it. I can’t until Autokey and pyautogui work in Wayland. I saw someone else in that thread complaining about TeamViewer but TeamViewer might be working in Wayland.
