Starting a new email with Tutamail or Protonmail and slowly making new accounts with those emails is not difficult. Not sure about Tutamail, but Protonmail allows for easy migration from Gmail.

1·4 days agoYea, this is exactly that reason why the people who do focus and spend time specializing in area of fast processing technology should also take care to make sure to cause a little harm to people as possible. Or there should be more oversight if those people are incapable of doing so themselves. For example, Google causes harm by invading privacy, which is unfortunately more profitable than enabling end-to-end encryption. I don’t know what could solve the problem, but there are surely options out there.

3·4 days agoNothing. If it’s Google operated it’s probably full of issues. They are in the process of merging Gemini into their search engine, probably because not enough people are using it and they need to force it on people. Likewise for other chat bots from other companies.

2·6 days agoIt probably is. Same with the narrative “if you have nothing to hide…”, which gets parroted a lot without much thought. It mainly serves to erode privacy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nothing_to_hide_argument. I think people for whatever reason think big tech is infallible, which is far from true, but very good for the companies if they want to maintain their almost god-like appearances. Companies like Google are too bloated and are anti-consumer. I highly recommend people move to other services. LLMs need to be regulated as they are far too harmful and do so much unchecked damage. I agreed that they have areas they are useful, but for instance scanning everyone’s photos on the cloud and letting AI be judge, jury, and executioner in terminating people’s accounts when they find something they think violates some arbitrary ever changing TOS policy is not a good use for them. Just ranting. Not a fan of how these companies invade privacy with AI.

0·6 days agoThat was just one example. There are many more. Like Minstral’s Le Chat or Proton’s Lumo. It’s not about how it responds per se, more about it being more private than Gemini.

653·7 days agoHighly recommend people leave Google services. Use Ente to store photos. Proton for email. DuckDuckGo or Ecosia for search. Organic Maps for directions. FreeTube or yewtu.be for videos. Venice AI as your advanced chatbot. Google needs to be broken up and regulated.

1·19 days agoGoogle’s AI is horribly invasive and has accused so many innocent people of being child abusers that it is making it harder to find actual children who are being abused and bad actors. Their AI falsely calls childhood photos and legal adult content and even cartoons as child abuse. There is no oversight. AI has its uses, but should not be used to destroy people’s lives. This is just one of many examples of a poor use of the technology that can have read world impacts like destroying a person’s reputation even when no crime was committed. Google needs to be broken up! We need data privacy and data protection laws ASAP.
And other signs of AI writing, at least for now. They may move away from that in time as people catch on. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Signs_of_AI_writing
