That’s horrifying. Someone needs to tell the McElroy brothers. I bet they would have fun with that.

My best friend still uses “Legacy” (goldeneye) controls and gets mad when games don’t have that option. He has even emailed developers about it. Half of them have no idea what he is talking about because they are not old enough to remember the before time.
We roast him for his special controls but he is better than all of us so I guess, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Woah! Thats a huge milestone. Congrats!!

I will not drink with you today! Snowed in and trying to potty train my toddler. Wish me luck.

Great job! The first 3-4 weeks is always the hardest. In my experience, trying to moderate or slow down would work for a bit but the frequency would always start to creep back up so I decided stopping for good is more sustainable.

Be the change you want to see in the world! Do you have a question or some advice to others you want to share?

I resonate a lot with your story. I also never hit rock bottom. I was excelling in my career and I had a fulfilling home life. I just couldn’t stop thinking about the long term health consequences and having my son born made those thought impossible to ignore.
When I decided to quit, I tried to consume as much anti-drinking media as possible. I landed on The Happy Sober Podcast as my main source. I listened to all 200 episodes in the first 30 days and it helped reprogram the way I thought about alcohol. Craig Beck does a good job of revealing the tricks alcohol plays on the brain. He also talks about when he tried AA and it sounds a lot like your experience with the meetings. I don’t think the meetings are for everyone. You’ve got to find what works for you.

Hi there! What’s on your mind?

Thank you!

Congrats!!

I quit 1 year ago today. You can do it! For the first month, I tried to consume as much information as possible about the negative health effects of alcohol so I could reprogram my brain to have a negative reaction when I see it.

N64 only has 1 joystick so games had to work around that. The joystick makes you walk forward/backwards and look left/right. There are also the C buttons that act as a D-pad for your right hand. Up/down is look and left/right is strafe. There were considered advanced movements that the majority of casual players could ignore.
