Wetherspoons is against British values; it’s not right to make people queue at a bar!
This is how it works in real Britain - you find a free space at the bar, and try to look at the barkeep until they ignore you and serve someone else who came after you. Then it’s a 50-50 chance whether they point at you and say “they were here before me”.
I always do the “s/he was here first” thing to ensure that I’m noticed and get served ahead of all the people I raced to get to the bar. It’s all part of the mind games.
